Eating Out

It’s always good to plan ahead in life and that holds true for dining out. We are going to pass on a few tips here for eating out and our first tip is to recognize that sooner or later you will end up dining in a fast food restaurant.

The secret of dining success is to look over the menus from a nutritional viewpoint examining calories, fat, and salt levels. Note those items which fit your dietary needs and then order accordingly.

We have provided some nutrition links below for your use.

Wendy’s

Arby’s

McDonalds

Burger King

Subway

Quizno’s

Other Tips:

- How food is prepared counts a lot.

    - Broiled or Baked is usually better than Fried.

    - Baked is good when a meat rack allows the fat drippings to be carried away from the meat.

    - French Fries are usually bad news because they absorb fat while in the deep fryer.

- Portion size is important and a secret is to order off the kids or seniors menu. Same food - just less of it.

- Food that is normally wrong to eat at home, such as bacon, is also not advised when dining out.

- Ask the waiter if they have Low Fat Margarine for your use.

- When using a salt shaker - use your finger to cover half of the holes.

- We’ll pass on other tips as we receive them from our members.

Bon Appetite
